Can Gio, an outlying district of Ho Chi Minh City, is a popular ecotourism destination that is only about fifty kilometers south of the city’s central business district. It is the perfect place to go for a day trip on the weekend if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and spend some time in the countryside, where you can see monkeys, mangroves, and beaches.
Can Gio mangrove forest, which covers an area of 1,862 hectares, includes Vam Sat mangrove forest as a component of its ecosystem. It is home to a rich and varied ecosystem full of animals and plants, some of which are species that are typical of salt marsh zones. In the battles fought against French colonialists and American imperialists, the historic canal battleground of Vam Sat played a significant role, and it was the site of several decisive victories. A short time after the war, the residents of Can Gio met here and began replanting trees in order to restore the forest and preserve the original biological conditions of the area…
