The Mekong Delta is the southernmost region of Vietnam. It is often referred to as the rice bowl of Vietnam as it produces three harvests per year. The fertile Mekong Delta is also famous for its tropical fruits and flowers. The Delta area marks the end of a 4,500km journey made by the Mekong River after having traveled through six countries. Traditional transportation in the Delta is by boat along a vast network of canals and channels.

07:30AM
7.30AM: We drive to the Tunnels of Cuchi.
At its height the tunnel system stretched over 250km. from Saigon to the Cambodian border and was three levels deep. The network included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers and kitchens.
Before entering the tunnels we watch a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed. We then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers.
Then, we drive to Mekong Delta. Have lunch at a local restaurant in Mytho.
In the afternoon, the boat trip takes us to Turtle Island, a beautiful island with many orchards. Here we can enjoy a variety of tropical fruits while listening to traditional South Vietnamese folk songs performed by local artists.
We are going to a Bee Farm, where we can play with the pythons, try some honey tea, and taste local confectionery.
Finally, we will have a short rowing boat ride to our main boat, which in turn will take us to Phoenix island where will have our lunch.
Drive back HCMC late afternoon. End of service.
