Itinerary

Day 1Hanoi – Thai Nguyen – Bac Can ~80km (B, L, D)

In the morning, we drive out of the capital on our support vehicle and head northeast to Thai Nguyen province – where we will start our bike ride to Bac Can. Our first day is easy, with a few rides up and downhill through the spectacular sceneries and beautiful villages of Tay and Nung en route. Overnight at Bac Can townlet.

Day 2Bac Can – Ba Be National Park ~78km (B, L, D)

In the morning, take a 20 km cycling outside uphill the BacKan province and enter into a quiet road with a great view of the small villages of Tay and Thai by the river. In the afternoon, we will take a boat cruise on Ba Be lakes and visit the Pac Ngoi village. Overnight at Ba Be National Park Guest House. `

Day 3Ba Be – Bac Me ~ 80km (B, L, D)

After breakfast, cycle to the waterfalls and have a short boat trip around the area. We then continue our cycling adventure onto a small trail to Bac Me. (no jeep support). Overnight at Bac Me town.

Day 4Bac Me – Ha Giang ~ 63km (B, L, D)

Today’s goal is cycling on the good paved road along Gam River to Ha Giang. Overnight at Ha Giang town.

Day 5Ha Giang - Heaven gate pass - Hoang Su Phi ~106km (B, L, D)

Ride 45km down highway 2 to Tan Quang – where we turn left and uphill to the mountain again. Your challenge today is to cycle up the Heaven gate pass before getting to Hoang Su Phi town. Overnight at Hoang Su Phi.

Day 6Hoang Su Phi - Xin Man - Bac Ha ~70km (B, L, D)

Start your heavy biking day to Bac Ha by passing some worst parts of the road. It is worthwhile since you will enjoy the spectacular scenery and great views along the Chay river. Overnight at Bac Ha.

Day 7Sunday Market ~ 20km (B, L, D)

A relaxing day promenade around Bac Ha Sunday market, see a market day for all tribes: Tay, Nung, Dao, Hoa, Hmong, Giay, Phu La…, In the Afternoon we ride the bike around Hmong village. Overnight at Bac Ha.

Day 8Bac Ha – Lao Cai - Night train to Hanoi ~ 60km (B, L)

Leave Bac Ha and ride down the mountain pass to Lao Cai via Bao Nhai Bridge. The rest is free at leisure at the Chinese border gate before boarding the train back to Hanoi. End of tour.
