Andy’s relationship with travel began on the road — not in an office.
In 1997, he began his career as an English-speaking tour guide in Ho Chi Minh City. It was an era when international travel in Vietnam was still developing, and guiding offered him something more valuable than a profession: an intimate education in the country he called home.
Over the years, Andy moved naturally from guiding into operations, management and entrepreneurship. He founded Asiana Travel Mate in 2006 and later re-founded his vision as Asia Travel Mates in 2022, creating intimate small-group experiences built around local knowledge and personal connection.
His career also brought him into senior operational roles, including managing South Vietnam operations for Buffalo Tours.
In 2021, Andy reached another important milestone when he became the first Vietnamese English Tour Leader for Intrepid Travel — a breakthrough that reflected the growing role of local leadership in international travel across Indochina.
