High-speed boat from HCM City to Mekong, Vietnam News and Asia News Network: Ho Chi Minh City. In the third quarter of this year, high-speed boat services from HCM City to the provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre and back are anticipated to begin operation.
To organize the new waterway routes, the HCM City Department of Transport collaborated with its counterpart agencies in Tin Giang and Bn Tre.
The service will begin at Ben Nha Rong Wharf in District 1 or Sài Gon and Nhà Rong Wharves in District 4. The vessels will navigate the Sài Gon River, the Nhà Bè River, the Soài Rap River, the Vàm Co River, the Cho Gao Canal, and the Tien River to reach ports and inland waterways in two Mekong Delta provinces.
The provinces of Tien Giang and Ben Tre are 110 km and 120 km from HCM City, respectively.
The schedule for the high-speed boat service will be modified by the relevant agencies based on an analysis of actual demand.
To attract tourists, the boat routes will likely be operated by Saigon Tourist Company, DP Green Technology Company, and Thong Nhat Company at reasonable prices.
Each company mentioned has two vessels that can accommodate between 75 and 151 passengers. The high-speed boat service will initially operate daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition to the two routes, HCM City is investigating the possibility and practicability of operating a third high-speed boat route between HCM City and Côn o Island.
