This tour is rated Moderate to Challenging. You should be in good physical health and prepared for full days of trekking (5-14km per day) on uneven terrain, including steep ascents and descents. We recommend training with hikes beforehand.
Homestays are basic but clean and incredibly rewarding. You will sleep on mattresses in a communal room (often with mosquito nets). Bathroom facilities are shared and usually have western toilets and basic showers. The warmth and hospitality of the families are what make it special.
Sturdy broken-in hiking boots, rain gear (poncho/jacket), warm layers (evenings can be cool), quick-dry clothing, insect repellent, sunscreen, hat, headtorch, a small backpack for day treks, and a reusable water bottle.
