Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival – Vientiane

Upon arrival at Wattay International Airport, your fast-track immigration and visa on arrival have been pre-arranged, and your baggage has been picked up by our concierges’ team. As you step into the arrival lobby, you will be welcome by a group of Lao Traditional Dancers. They will present you with a neck garland made from the Dok Champa Flower (Frangipani flower), the National flower of Laos. Once you are ready to depart, you will have a Police escort to ensure a safe journey to your hotel. Upon arrival at your hotel lobby, your Traditional Lao Dancers will perform the Bamboo Dance. Join in if you wish. We serve you a fresh young coconut as a welcome drink with a cool towel.

 

Time permitting you to have(depending on your arrival time) a half-day city tour enables us to see the major temples of Vientiane and the oldest – Wat Sisaket, with its thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. We also visit the national icon of Laos, Luang Stupa, stopping along the way to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. We return to the hotel – where you enjoy your private cocktail reception at the poolside bar with stunning views over the city. Overnight in Vientiane  

 

Day 2Vientiane – Vang Vieng

For breakfast, we leave the capital early for our journey northbound; our driving will take 4hrs, including various photo stops and greeting local villagers along the road. We will also see some breathtaking scenery en route as we pass through the spectacular countryside toward the mountainous region. Arrive in Vang Vieng early enough to visit the Organic Farm for lunch, tasting roasted goat cheese and mulberry wine, then visit Tham Jang Cave and the “half-day Tour” in the afternoon to visit Tham Jang, which was once used by the local people as a hideout from Chinese invaders. We reach our final destination Vang Vieng, which is on a bend of the Nam Song River. Overnight in Vang Vieng. (B)

Day 3Vang Vieng – Luang Prabang (Baci Ceremony)

For breakfast, we are heading up north. Our journey will climb up to the top of the hill, where more than 1,300m above sea level. You enjoy the spectacular views of mountain ranges and have lunch on the top of the Mountain. After lunch, we head north up route 13 to Luang Prabang. The stunning mountain scenery makes for an exciting journey. After a couple of photo stops, we arrived at Luang Prabang early evening. Upon arrival in Luang Prabang, you are proceeding to the hotel and preparing for a unique traditional cultural show of Luang Prabang. Due to this being a special traditional ceremony, you are wearing the most formal. We provide you shoulder scarf. Overnight in Luang Prabang. (B) 

Day 4Luang Prabang – Full day city tour (Cooking Class)

Your full-day city tour begins after breakfast, with a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artefacts. We then enjoy a short-guided tour seeing the city’s oldest temple and the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. Today, we also visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham. The following lunch a cooking class. One with the Tamnak Lao (also known as the 3 Elephants cafe). This was an evening class and was hosted by 2 chefs. We learnt to make Lap (we did a chicken version), a fish and eggplant soup and a chicken and pork dish. We also watched them make the famous Jeowbong and tasted it for our banquet. It was certainly hot and perhaps not as sweet as ours is. They did not put any buffalo skin in it. We visit the Arts and Ethnology Centre to learn about Laos’ many ethnic cultures before we head out of town to see the weaving villages of Ban Xiengkhong and Ban Xienglek. We then return to the city for a visit to Wat Mai. We then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a panoramic view of the city at sunset and the Mekong River.  The tour ends after a visit to the famous Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of handmade textiles made by local and hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang. . Overnight in Luang Prabang. (B)

Note: the Royal Palace Museum is closed on Tuesdays

 

Could have the option do the morning tour by bicycle finishing at cooking class.

After the cooking class relax at the hotel, then around 5 pm go to Mount Phousi and then the night market.

Do Ethnology Centre next morning and leave out Ban Xiengkhing, Ban Xienglek and Wat Mai

Day 5Luang Prabang – Khouangsi Waterfall

An early start gives you the fantastic opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks collecting offerings of Alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist nation still preserving the procession. Back to the hotel for breakfast and we visit the morning Phousi Market, where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpetre among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will visit local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ou, a Hmong village, and Ban Thapene, a Khmu village.  This then takes us to the beautiful Khuang                                                                                                                                 

Waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest trails. We then return to Luang Prabang. On return, we continue taking a short drive to Ban Phanom, a village famous for its hand weaving. Overnight in Luang Prabang. (B)

Visit Ethnology Centre after breakfast and include morning coffee at the Centre Cafe before heading to Kuang Sii. 

Leave out Ban Ouray, Ban Ou and Ban Thane.

After Kuang Sii return to the hotel for relaxing and then head to Pak Ou

Ban Phnom visit should be optional or return to the hotel for relaxation and free time to explore.

 

Day 6Luang Prabang – Living Land Farming

For breakfast, we are heading toward the local farm of Luang Prabang, you will experience the local way of life and how they live. The former will show you how to grow rice. You are requested to hand at some of the activities or view our daily work from a farmhouse balcony. There are choices for you to experience either practice your real buffalo control on the rice terrace or grow an organic vegetable garden. Your lunch will be at the farmhouse. You might catch fish and pick up organic vegetables to cook for lunch. All your acts and practice today would be based on local farmers’ lifestyles. (Note: Rice farm activities is depending on the season). We return to Luang Prabang by late afternoon and take your rest at a beautiful hotel. To those who wish to experience the most popular Lao games. or you can also follow our guide to part. We play petanque and learned to enjoy Beerlao. This sport is the most famous for Lao people and everyone is laughing and happy. Overnight in Luang Prabang. (B)
