According to the General Statistics Office, the number of international tourists visiting Vietnam in the first two quarters of 2022 surged 6.8-fold from the same period in 2021, reaching 602,000. (GSO).
Air visitors accounted for 87 percent of the total and were 9.4 times more than the same time last year.
In June alone, Vietnam welcomed approximately 237,000 international visitors, an increase of 36.8 percent compared to the previous month and an increase of 32.9 times compared to the same month last year.
The revenue from hotel and catering services increased by 20,9 percent in the first six months and by 80 percent in June compared to the same period last year, according to statistics.
The revenue from travel services increased by 94.4 percent between January and June of this year compared to the same period last year, due to the robust rebound of tourism activities, particularly the domestic tourism boom in the second quarter. Khanh Hoa (an increase of 627.8 percent), Can Tho (an increase of 183.9%), Hanoi (an increase of 129.3 percent), Da Nang (an increase of 98.5%), and Quang Nam (an increase of 98.5%) were among the places with strong revenue growth (67.8 percent)
Notably, Hanoi served 8.61 million tourists during the examined period and earned 25.2 trillion VND (about 1.08 billion USD), a threefold increase in both number and revenue compared to the same time period in the previous year.
The tourism sector of Ho Chi Minh City claimed that the city welcomed 11 million domestic tourists and 478,000 foreigners over time, an increase of 43.1% and 100%, respectively, year-over-year.
