From Shanghai to Southeast Asia

Jin Jiang is bringing five brands to Indochina.

Jin Jiang Hotels is a leading global hospitality company headquartered in Shanghai, China. It ranks first in Asia and second worldwide by hotel scale, with over 14,120 hotels in more than 100 countries. In Southeast Asia, the group is executing its largest-ever international expansion through a joint venture with Malaysia’s RIYAZ International.

In April 2025, Jin Jiang Hotels China Region signed its first property in Laos — a Metropolo Jinjiang Hotels project in Luang Prabang — marking the beginning of its Southeast Asian expansion. The group subsequently formed RJJ Hotels, a joint venture with RIYAZ International, to manage and expand five Jin Jiang brands across Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and the Philippines. The venture targets 181 hotel management agreements and 108 operating hotels within five years.

Our Approach

We include Jin Jiang Hotels as a verified international hotel group because of its expanding presence in Laos and its pipeline across Vietnam and Cambodia. With localized operations teams in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam, Jin Jiang is building a substantial Southeast Asian footprint.

Brands in Southeast Asia

Jin Jiang’s five brands expanding into Indochina.

Through the RJJ Hotels joint venture, five Jin Jiang brands are being introduced to Southeast Asia, spanning luxury resorts, upscale city hotels, midscale business hotels and premium economy.

Upscale City Hotels

Metropolo Jinjiang Hotels

An upscale 4- to 5-star city hotel brand, typically featuring 100+ rooms in main cities with strong historical identity. The first Southeast Asian Metropolo property is in Luang Prabang, Laos, opening early 2026. The design incorporates local Lao cultural elements, including handmade wall coverings and abstracted elephant patterns.

Luxury Resort

Ginco Hotel

A luxury 5-star resort brand offering high-end leisure experiences. Ginco Hotel is part of the five-brand portfolio that RJJ Hotels is introducing to Southeast Asia, targeting resort destinations across the region.

Upscale Resort

Renjoy Hotel

An upscale 5-star resort brand blending Chinese architectural aesthetics with local natural environments and cultural arts. Renjoy targets leisure destinations across Southeast Asia.

Midscale Business

Lavande Hotel

A midscale business hotel brand characterised by lavender elements and fragrance culture. Lavande’s first Malaysian property opened in Penang in June 2025, marking the brand’s Southeast Asian debut.

Premium Economy

Jinjiang Inn

China’s pioneering economy hotel brand and a national benchmark. Jinjiang Inn is a premium economy brand bringing standardised quality and value to Southeast Asian markets through the RJJ Hotels expansion.

Economy (Separate Expansion)

7 Days Inn

Jin Jiang’s economy brand is also expanding separately, with 11 projects signed in Indonesia and Malaysia in December 2025. The first Malaysian 7 Days property, 7 Days Premium Kuala Lumpur, is expected to open in March 2026.

Strategic Partnership

The RJJ Hotels joint venture.

In May 2025, Jin Jiang Hotels China Region and Malaysia’s RIYAZ International formed RJJ Hotels, a joint venture granted licensing rights to manage and expand five Jin Jiang brands across Southeast Asia.

Targets

181 hotel management agreements and 108 operating hotels within five years across Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and the Philippines. The August 2025 launch event saw 11 hotel management agreements signed immediately, with projects in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, Kuching, Kuala Terengganu and Luang Prabang.

Laos: First Milestone

The first hotel management agreement signed under RJJ Hotels was for the Metropolo Jinjiang property in Luang Prabang, Laos. Developed by Sanher Investment & Development, the hotel is positioned as a 4- to 5-star equivalent with 100+ rooms and is scheduled to open in early 2026.

Trip.com Alliance

In August 2026, Jin Jiang signed a three-year MoU with Trip.com covering ten ASEAN nations. The partnership introduces a unified fixed commission structure, integrates Trip.com’s online traffic with Jin Jiang’s offline portfolio, and aims to build an integrated “tourism + accommodation” ecosystem across the region.

Jin Jiang’s expansion into Southeast Asia represents a shift in the global hospitality landscape: a Chinese hotel group exporting its own brands and management systems to international markets at scale. Unlike the group’s earlier overseas acquisitions, this expansion is brand-led, with Jin Jiang’s own brands being introduced to new markets through a joint venture that combines local market knowledge with Jin Jiang’s systems, standards and supply chain.

The group has deployed dedicated development and operations teams in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam, and is building localized teams that combine Chinese and local staff. The partnership with Trip.com further strengthens its distribution capabilities across ASEAN. For travellers, this means a growing number of Jin Jiang-branded properties across Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia in the coming years.
