An open-air rooftop above District 1 — the view, the drinks, and the rhythm of a Saigon evening.
Chill Skybar sits on the 26th floor of the AB Tower, on the corner of Le Lai and Nguyen Thi Nghia in District 1 — a five-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market and the central business district. It is one of the oldest and most established rooftop bars in Ho Chi Minh City, and it remains one of the most recognisable.
The venue is split across two levels: a covered indoor lounge for dining and cocktails, and an open-air terrace on the upper floor with a 360-degree view of the city. The atmosphere shifts through the evening — from a relaxed dinner-and-cocktail setting at sunset to a livelier bar scene with a resident DJ after 9pm.
What Chill Skybar is
Chill Skybar opened in 2011 on the top floors of the AB Tower in District 1, and quickly became one of the most recognisable rooftop venues in Ho Chi Minh City. It is a two-level space: an indoor restaurant and lounge on the 26th floor, and an open-air terrace on the 27th with a full 360-degree panorama over Saigon.
The view is the main draw. To the south, the Saigon River and the emerging Thu Thiem district. To the east, the landmarks of the central business district — Bitexco Financial Tower and the Landmark 81 skyline beyond. To the west, the low-rise sprawl of the Old Quarter, and beyond it, the airport and the outer districts. On a clear evening, the view is genuinely one of the best in the city.
The drinks menu runs from classic cocktails — negronis, old fashioneds, martinis — to a long list of house specials and a solid wine and champagne selection. Food is served on the indoor level and is a mix of international small plates and main courses, with a dinner menu that aims at the mid-to-upper range rather than fine dining.
Chill Skybar is not a quiet bar. It is one of the busiest rooftop venues in the city, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights, and the atmosphere after 9pm leans towards music and a crowd. For travellers who want a low-key cocktail in a rooftop setting, going earlier in the evening — around 5:30 to 7pm — will give a calmer experience with the sunset light.
Three reasons to go
Chill Skybar is one of several rooftop venues in Ho Chi Minh City, but three things set it apart.

360° over Saigon
The open-air terrace on the 27th floor offers a full-circle panorama — the Saigon River to the south, Bitexco Tower to the east, and the sprawling low-rise districts to the west. Best at sunset or after dark when the city lights come on.

Cocktails & Champagne
A long cocktail list running from classics — negronis, old fashioneds, martinis — to house specials, alongside a solid wine and champagne selection. Prices sit at the upper end of the Saigon bar market.

DJ Nights & Late Crowds
After 9pm, the rooftop shifts into a livelier bar mode with a resident DJ and a mixed crowd of locals, expats and travellers. Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest — and the most energetic.
Practical details
Six things to know before you go — from dress code to timing to how to get up to the 26th floor.
No shorts, sleeveless tops or flip-flops — this is enforced more strictly after 8pm. Smart-casual dress is fine; a collared shirt and closed shoes will always work.
Enter through the AB Tower lobby on Le Lai Street and take the lift to the 26th floor. Staff at the entrance will direct you. There is usually a lift attendant in the evening.
Reserve ahead for a table on the terrace — especially at sunset and on weekends. Walk-ins are usually possible earlier in the evening but not guaranteed after 8pm.
Two good windows: 5:30–7pm for sunset and a calm atmosphere, or 9pm onwards for the DJ and a livelier crowd. The 7–9pm window is the busiest transition period.
Both card and cash are accepted. Prices are in Vietnamese dong; some venues also quote in US dollars. Service charge and tax are usually included in the menu price.
A five-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market, ten minutes from the Saigon Opera House. Grab is easy and cheap; metered taxis are plentiful. The nearest landmarks are the New World Hotel and Ben Thanh Market.
When to visit Chill Skybar
Saigon is warm year-round, but the weather and the crowd shift across the year. The best time to visit is the dry season, and the best time of day depends on whether you want the view or the atmosphere.
The dry season — clear skies, lower humidity, and the best conditions for a rooftop. Sunset is more visible, and rain interruptions are rare. Book ahead on weekends.
The southwest monsoon brings short, heavy afternoon showers that usually clear by early evening. The view can be obscured by rain on some nights — check the forecast and consider an early-evening visit.
The busiest nights of the week — DJ programme is at its peak, the terrace fills up quickly, and reservations become essential. Arrive before 8pm or reserve a table in advance.
Weeknights are calmer and easier for walk-ins. If you want the view without the crowd, a Tuesday or Wednesday evening will give you a much more relaxed experience.

Where exactly is Chill Skybar?
Chill Skybar is on the 26th floor of the AB Tower, at 76A Le Lai Street in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. It is a five-minute walk from Ben Thanh Market and about ten minutes from the Saigon Opera House. Enter through the AB Tower lobby and take the lift to the 26th floor.
What is the dress code at Chill Skybar?
Smart casual. The venue does not allow shorts, sleeveless tops or flip-flops, and the dress code is enforced more strictly after 8pm. A collared shirt and closed shoes will always work. If in doubt, err on the side of slightly dressier — you will not feel out of place.
Do I need a reservation?
Reservations are recommended, especially for the terrace at sunset or on Friday and Saturday nights. Walk-ins are usually possible earlier in the evening (before 8pm), but a table is not guaranteed later. If you want to be sure of a spot with a view, book ahead.
What time is best to visit?
Two good windows. Arrive between 5:30 and 7pm for sunset and a relaxed atmosphere, or come after 9pm for the DJ and a livelier crowd. Avoid the 7–9pm transition period on weekends if you want a calm experience. On weeknights, most hours are comfortable.
How much does a night at Chill Skybar cost?
Prices sit at the upper end of the Saigon bar market — comparable to a mid-range rooftop bar in another major Asian city. Cocktails and wine by the glass are the standard order; the champagne list is significantly higher. For a full dinner with drinks on the indoor level, expect a bill that reflects the venue’s premium position. Check the current menu on arrival, as prices change periodically.
Is Chill Skybar suitable for families?
It depends on the time of day. Earlier in the evening — around 5:30 to 7pm — the venue is relatively calm and families with older children can enjoy the view and a meal. After 9pm it becomes a proper bar scene, which is less suitable for young children. For a family-friendly rooftop experience, an earlier booking at a hotel rooftop venue may work better.
What is the view like?
Chill Skybar has a 360-degree view from its 27th-floor open-air terrace. To the south you see the Saigon River and the emerging Thu Thiem district; to the east, Bitexco Financial Tower and the Landmark 81 skyline beyond; to the west, the low-rise sprawl of the central districts. On a clear evening — especially during the dry season — it is one of the best views in Ho Chi Minh City.
How does Chill Skybar compare to other rooftop bars in Saigon?
Chill Skybar is one of the oldest and most established rooftop venues in the city, with the most reliable 360-degree view and a long-standing reputation. Other rooftop bars — including hotel venues and newer independent spots — may offer a quieter atmosphere, a different design, or a different price point. The best choice depends on whether you want the classic Saigon rooftop experience (Chill) or something calmer and more design-led.
