Our Commitments at a Glance
Seven principles guiding how we operate.
- No forced labor. We do not engage, and do not knowingly work with partners who engage, in forced, bonded or trafficked labor.
- No human trafficking. We do not support any activity that facilitates the movement of people for exploitation.
- No child exploitation. We do not offer orphanage visits or voluntourism programs that may harm minors.
- Fair employment. Our team is engaged in accordance with Vietnamese labor law.
- Supplier expectations. We work with suppliers who respect fair labor and safe conditions.
- Responsible tourism. We brief travelers and partners on ethical behavior.
- Reporting concerns. Concerns can be reported to us at any time — confidentially.
01Forced Labor & Human Trafficking
We do not engage — and we do not knowingly work with partners who engage — in forced labor, bonded labor, debt bondage, or any form of human trafficking.
We expect the same standard from every hotel, transport provider, guide, cruise operator and activity supplier we work with. Where we become aware of a concern, we review the partnership and, where appropriate, discontinue it.
02Child Protection & Exploitation
We do not offer, and will not knowingly support, orphanage visits, exploitative voluntourism, or any activity that places minors at risk of harm or exploitation.
Our experiences are designed to respect children and their communities. Photographing vulnerable children, distributing gifts, or entering schools and orphanages without proper permission is not permitted on any of our journeys.
03Supplier Expectations
We consider labor and ethical standards when selecting and reviewing suppliers. We look for:
- Legal operation and required licensing;
- Fair treatment of employees and contractors;
- Safe and respectful working conditions;
- Compliance with local labor law;
- Ethical practices concerning communities, wildlife and cultural heritage.
These expectations are communicated to suppliers directly and, where applicable, reflected in supplier agreements.
04Employment Practices
Our team members — including permanent staff, local specialists and freelance guides — are engaged in accordance with Vietnamese labor law and the applicable regulations of the countries in which they work.
We are committed to fair pay, safe working conditions, and freedom of association. Our workplace standards apply across all roles, including remote and part-time engagement.
05Responsible Tourism
We brief travelers and trade partners on ethical behavior — including appropriate engagement with communities, photography etiquette, and the impact of consumer choices such as souvenirs and optional activities.
Where possible, our journeys support community benefit — local restaurants, artisan workshops and family-run homestays. Our full approach is set out in our Responsible Travel Policy.
06Reporting Concerns
If you become aware of any concern related to forced labor, human trafficking, child exploitation, or unfair labor practices in connection with our operations or partners, please report it to us immediately at hello@asiatravelmates.com.
We treat all reports seriously and handle them confidentially. Where appropriate, we will follow up directly with the supplier concerned and take corrective action.
07Review & Statement
This statement is reviewed periodically and updated when our practices, partners or applicable expectations change. The version and effective date at the top of this page show when it was last revised.
We publish this statement because we believe it is the right way to operate — and because travelers, trade partners and suppliers deserve to know where we stand.
Speak Up
We would rather hear a concern from a traveler, a partner or a team member than allow an issue to go unaddressed. Write to hello@asiatravelmates.com.
